On the Hadith That "I Am the City of Science and Ali Is Its Door"

Öz

The narration saying that Saint Ali is the door of science city has been mentioned in the sources of Shiite and Sunnite in the close words. The hadith which was evaluated as mutawatir by the Shiites is a matter of a discussion for the Sunnite muhaddises (people interpreting the words of prophet). There has been some people claiming that hadith was false, as there has been some claiming that it was sound. The hadith accepted as having important impacts on Islamic thought, has been used as a material indicating that the caliphate belonged to Saint Ali and his lineage and he knew science of religious cult. The idea claiming that the saint Ali knew the science of religious cult was also ac-cepted in the Sufis thought and played an effective role on the transmission of series of religious sects to Saint Ali.
