Öz

Problem of political thought in Ahlus Sunnah theology is subject of this study. Ahlus Sunnah is not only a religious sect basically, but also a structure of historical and political identity. The political order and political reason has accompanied with religious order and reason. It could have been argued that every civilization has an orthodoxy and Ahlus Sunna has played main role on construction of orthodoxy in Islamic culture. Muslim scholars (mutakallimun and fuqaha) explained necessity of imamah (vujub al imamah) in their classical literature of theology (Kalam) and jurisprudence (Fıqh) . Departing from here it is possible to point out imagination of polity, especially concept of authority in Sunnism. This makes possible not only to understand of authority, but also point out the basic foundations which gave rise to cultural dimension of Sunnism on the sidelines.
