THE SITUATION OF CURRICULUMS OF FACULTY OF PHARMACIES IN TURKEY
Abstract
The aim of this study is to compare pharmacy faculties in Turkey in terms of their curriculums, theoretical and practical lectures, thesis, training courses and internship applications.
21 faculties of pharmacy’s curriculums have been examined and compared with the pharmin’s classification. These 21 faculties have accepted students in the education year of 2013-2014.
When comparing faculties of pharmacy’s curriculums with each other; there have been differences in the graduation criteria, credit on the each semester, graduation project, practice applications and internship.
After pharmacy education duration has been adopted to 5 years, 11 new faculties of pharmacy began to education in Turkey. Different curriculums may lead to restrict mobility of students between faculties of pharmacy in or out of the country. For prevent this kind of situations, National Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education was established at September, 16 2011 in Turkey and determined minimum competency standards for pharmacy education.
