NADİR BİR AKUT BATIN SEBEBİ: BENİGN KİSTİK MEZOTELYOMA

Year 2008, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 39 - 41, 01.08.2008

Abstract

A Rare Acute Abdomen Reason: Bening Cystic Mesothelioma

Year 2008, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 39 - 41, 01.08.2008

Abstract

Benign cystic mesothelioma, arising from the peritoneal surfaces is a rare tumor, seen particularly in women. Most of the patients have an abdominal operation in their history. There are different thesis on its pathogenesis and prognosis. Cystic mass in peritoneal space in a man, suffering from abdominal pain, lack of appetite, nausea and emesis is interpreted as “Multicystic peritoneal mesothelioma” according to its histopathologic, histochemical and immunohistochemical properties. We diagnosed the benign cystic mesothelioma with laparoscopy and treated it with laparascopic approach. Literature is reviewed, pathogenesis, differential diagnosis and prognosis of the lesion is discussed. The case is found worthy to be reported as it is a rare tumor and the patient is male. Its importance in the differential diagnosis of the other benign or malign tumors of peritoneum is emphasized.
