Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

  • Authorship contributions should be clearly defined using the Credit Taxonomy terms, specifying each author's role in the manuscript. The corresponding author is responsible for completing the Authorship Contribution Form, which must be signed and scanned before submission. This ensures proper attribution of contributions and helps prevent ghost or honorary authorship.

                    Credit Taxonomy Terms include:

Conceptualization: Development of research objectives and design.
Methodology: Design and execution of the research methods.
Validation: Verification of data accuracy and integrity.
Formal Analysis: Statistical and data analysis interpretation.
Investigation: Conducting experiments and data collection.
Resources: Provision of study materials and analysis tools.
Data Curation: Data management and organization for analysis.
Writing - Original Draft: Preparation of the manuscript’s first draft.
Writing - Review & Editing: Revising the manuscript for content quality.
Visualization: Creation of graphical data representations.
Supervision: Oversight and leadership of the research process.
Project Administration: Managing the project's overall execution.
Funding Acquisition: Securing financial support for the research.

  • Authorship Contribution Form must be filled out by the corresponding author, indicating each author's specific contributions according to the Credit Taxonomy. The completed form must be signed by the corresponding author, scanned, and submitted with the manuscript to ensure proper acknowledgment of each author’s work. This process ensures compliance with authorship rights and prevents issues related to inappropriate authorship claims.
  • Any financial grants or other support received for the study from individuals or institutions should be disclosed to the Editorial Board, and to disclose potential conflicts of interest ICMJE Potential Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form should be filled in and submitted.
  • The manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with ICMJE-Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals.
  • If required, ethics committee reports or an equivalent official document may be requested from the authors. In manuscripts reporting the results of an experimental study, it should be stated within the main text that the patients were informed in detail about the treatment technique and that the patient’s consent was obtained. For studies carried out on animals, the measures taken to prevent pain and suffering of the animals should be stated clearly. Information on patient consent, the name of the ethics committee and the ethics committee approval number should also be stated in the Materials and Methods section of the manuscript.
  • The iThenticate report of the manuscript must also be uploaded together with the manuscript while submitting to the Meandros Medical and Dental Journal. The articles that indicate a similarity rate of more than 20%, according to iThenticate reports will not be accepted.
  • Pre-evaluation checks of each submission are carried out by the Editorial Board. Manuscripts are scanned for plagiarism and duplication at this stage. If an ethical problem is detected regarding plagiarism and duplication, the Editorial Board will act in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Manuscripts that pass this stage are assigned to at least two double-blind peer-reviewers. Reviewers are selected among independent experts who has published publications in the international literature on the submission subject and received a considerable amount of citations. Research articles, systematic reviews and meta-analysis manuscripts are also reviewed by a biostatistician. By submitting a manuscript to the journal, authors accept that the editor may implement changes on their manuscripts as long as the main idea of the manuscript is not interfered with.
