Eğitim bireyi hayata hazırladığı gibi toplumsal değerlerin aktarılması ve bir anlamda toplumsal kurumların korunmasında önemli işlevleri yerine getirir. Tarih boyunca eğitimin, birey ve toplum için önemine vurgu yapan düşünürler olmuştur. İslam’ın ilme verdiği değerden ötürü Müslüman düşünürler de eğitim konusunda oldukça duyarlı davranmışlardır. İslâm’ın doğduğu dönemden 16. yüzyılın sonlarına kadar İslam coğrafyasında eğitime büyük önem verilmiş, ilim ile uğraşan kişiler desteklenmiştir. Medreselerin sadece dini ilimlerin değil, aynı zamanda pozitif ilimlerin öğretildiği kurumlar olduğu dönemlerde ilim ve teknik açıdan büyük ilerlemeler kaydedilmiştir. Zaman içerisinde klasik eğitim veren kurumların bozulması ve çağı takip etmemesi toplumda büyük bir cehaletin kökleşmesine neden olmuştur. Mehmet Akif Ersoy ve Cezayirli âlim İbn Bâdîs bu noktada eğitim meselesi üzerinde durarak önemli fikirler ortaya koymuşlardır. Aynı dönemde yaşamış olan bu iki münevver, İslam toplumunun refahı ve ilerlemesi adına eğitimin yaygınlaştırılması ve geliştirilmesi gerektiğini ifade etmişlerdir. Klasik medrese eğitimi görmelerinin yanında çağdaş eğitimin öneminin farkına varan bu iki münevverin eğitim konusunda ortak fikirlere sahip oldukları görülür. Bu çalışmanın amacı Mehmet Akif ile İbn Bâdîs’in eğitim hakkındaki fikirlerini mukayeseli bir biçimde değerlendirmektir.
Education not only prepares the individual for life, but also fulfils important functions in the transfer of social values and, in a sense, in the protection of social institutions. Throughout history, there have been thinkers who emphasized the importance of education for the individual and society. Due to the value Islam gives to science, Muslim thinkers have also been very sensitive about education. From the birth of Islam to the end of the 16th century, great importance was attached to education in the Islamic geography, and people dealing with science were supported. In the period when madrasahs were institutions where not only religious sciences but also positive sciences were taught, great advances were made in terms of science and technique. Over time, the deterioration of classical education institutions and their failure to follow the age have caused a great ignorance to take root in the society. Mehmet Akif Ersoy and Algerian scholar Ibn Badis put forward important ideas by emphasizing this point on the issue of education. These two intellectuals, who lived in the same period, stated that education should be expanded and developed for the welfare and progress of the Islamic society. It is observed that having realized the importance of modern education as well as classical madrasah education, these two intellectuals had common ideas about education. Thus, this study seeks to evaluate the ideas of Mehmet Akif and Ibn Badis on education in a comparative way.
