This study aims to examine the meanings and pragmatic functions of the interjection aman in Turkish on the Turkish National Corpus (TNC). 2135 concordance lines of the word aman searched in TNC between 2003 and 2013 were examined. First of all, the frequencies of the meanings of aman in the Turkish dictionary were determined and it was checked whether the most common meaning in the corpus was in the first place in the Turkish dictionary. Then, the lexical profile of aman was examined in terms of lexical collocation, grammatical colligation, semantic preference and discourse prosody, according to the Extended Lexical Model (Stubbs, 2002). In addition, pragmatic functions of aman and frequencies of these functions were determined according to the classification of Külebi (1990) by coding concordance lines according to the functions of expressing emotions such as liking, surprise, fear, regret and anger, and calling functions such as apologizing, warning, and drawing attention. The findings revealed that Aman Allah’ım is used very frequently. Aman sen is usually followed by a conjunction de or an imperative verb. The semantic preference of aman ne is positive qualifying adjectives.
Bu çalışma, Türkçedeki aman ünleminin anlamlarını ve edimbilimsel işlevlerini Türkçe Ulusal Derlemi (TUD) üzerinde incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. TUD’da 2003-2013 yılları arasında aranan aman sözcüğünün 2135 bağımlı dizini incelenmiştir. Öncelikle amanın Türkçe Sözlükte yer alan anlamlarının derlemdeki sıklıkları belirlenmiş ve derlemdeki en sık anlamının Türkçe Sözlükte ilk sırada olup olmadığına bakılmıştır. Daha sonra amanın sözcük profili Genişletilmiş Sözcükbirim Modeline (Stubbs, 2002) göre sözcüksel eşdizimlilik (collocation), dilbilgisel eşdizimlilik (colligation), anlam tercihi (semantic preference) ve söylem ezgisi (discourse prosody) bakımından incelenmiştir. Ayrıca amanın edimbilimsel işlevleri ve sıklıkları Külebi (1990)’ın sınıflandırmasına göre beğenme, şaşma, korku, pişmanlık ve öfke gibi duygu belirtme işlevleri ile özür dileme, uyarma, dikkat çekme gibi çağrı işlevlerine göre bağımlı dizinlerin kodlanmasıyla belirlenmiştir. Bulgulara göre Aman Allah’ım, çok sık kullanılmaktadır. Aman sen genellikle bağlaç olan de ile veya emir kipindeki bir eylemle devam etmektedir. Aman nenin anlam tercihi olumlu anlamdaki niteleme sıfatlarıdır.
