                                                                                                <abstract><p>Çalışma, kalsiyum (Ca) uygulamasının ‘Hicaznar’ nar (Punica granatum L.) meyvelerinde depolama süresince görülen kayıplara ve kalite değişimlerine etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Nar ağaçlarına Ca uygulamaları; a) Altı kez (bir kez topraktan 50 g CaNO3 ağaç-1 ve 5 kez yapraktan %0.35 CaO), b) İki kez (yapraktan %0.35 CaO) ve c) Uygulama yapılmayanlar (kontrol) olmak üzere üç farklı şekilde yapılmıştır. Nar meyveleri modifiye atmosfer ambalajlarına konup, ön soğutma yapılarak ambalajların ağzı kapatılmıştır. Nar meyveleri 6±0.5°C sıcaklık ve %90 oransal nemde 5 ay süreyle muhafaza edilmiştir. Ca uygulaması nar meyvelerinin kabuk ve tanesindeki Ca miktarını arttırmıştır. Depolama süresinin ilerlemesiyle özellikle 6 kez Ca uygulaması ağırlık kaybı ve iç zar kahverengileşmesini azaltıcı, toplam fenol miktarını ise arttırıcı yönde etkili olmuştur. Ca uygulamaları depolama sonunda çürüklük gelişimini azaltmış, 6 kez, 2 kez Ca uygulaması ve kontroldeki çürüklük gelişimi sırasıyla %6.3, %7.5 ve %12.5 olarak saptanmıştır. Nar meyvelerinin kabuk ve tane rengine, antioksidan aktivitesi, toplam suda çözünür kuru madde ve asit miktarına Ca uygulamalarının etkisi kontrole benzerlik göstermiştir. Sonuçlar, özellikle 6 kez Ca uygulanan nar meyvelerinin kalitelerini koruyarak daha az kayıpla 5 ay depolanabileceğini göstermiştir.</p></abstract>
