HOW THE NARRATOR TERMINOLOGY IN MUSEUMS AND HISTORICAL PLACES CAN BE INCLUDED TO HISTORY EDUCATION?
Abstract
The aim of this study is to present positive examples about applications made, by demonstrating the narrator terminology applied in the museum and historical places in the light of studies held in the field. Therefore in the study, moving from these examples it has been argued that how the practices realized can be included to history education, and having contribution for studies carried out about the usage of museum and historical places as an alternative educational environment outside the classroom in recent years, has been targeted. The study has been designed in a qualitative research design and document analysis has been used as data collection method. For this purpose, the narrative types applied in museums and historical places through the written and on-line documents published in the official internet sites of related museums and historical places, have been classified and exemplified. According to the findings, it is possible say that applications and narrator presentations carried out in museums and historical places have been realized by the experts and professionals in the field; in the scope of history education the students have taken part as spectator/visitor in this process, and they have participated limitedly and actively. In history education, in addition to applications in which students directly communicate with applications such as creative drama studies in museums and historical places that can be used as an alternative educational environment outside the classroom, and historical animation the narrative comments also can be used for similar purposes. It is possible say that such applications can develop effectively the historical thinking skills, the historical empathy skills of students and many skills in their education program; can give awareness to students about these places
