Kırşehir Ahi Evran Üniversitesi’nde görev yapan akademik ve idari personelin ekolojik ayak izi farkındalık düzeylerini belirlemek ve çevresel sürdürülebilirlik konusunda farkındalık oluşturmak için temel veriler sağlamaktır. Araştırma süreci nicel araştırma desenlerinden kesitsel betimsel tarama yöntemleriyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın evrenini Kırşehir Ahi Evran Üniversitesi idari ve akademik personeli oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma, 310 kişilik bir katılımcı grubu üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Katılımcılara anketler aracılığıyla ekolojik ayak izi ve çevresel farkındalık ile ilgili sorular yöneltilmiştir. Veriler, istatistiksel analizlerle incelenmiş ve yorumlanmıştır.Geri dönüşüm, ulaşım ve su tüketimi alt ölçek ortalama puanları için öğrenim durumları arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Geri dönüşüm alt ölçek puanı ortalaması, öğrenim durumu yüksek lisans olanların (X̄=20.0); doktora (X̄=20.7); lisans (X̄=20.3); ön lisans (X̄=23.4) ve lise düzeyi öğrenim durumu için (X̄=23.0) olarak tespit edilmiştir. Ekolojik ayak izi farkındalık alt ölçekleri ve toplam puanı eğitim-seminer-kurs alma durumu ile kıyaslandığında geri dönüşüm ve su tüketimi alt ölçek puanlarında istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir sonuç elde edilmiştir. Geri dönüşüm alt ölçeği için daha önce eğitim-seminer-kurs alanların ortalaması (X̄=24.0) , almayanların ortalamasına (X̄=21.0) göre daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p<0.05). Su tüketimi alt ölçeği ortalama puanında da benzer şekilde daha önce eğitim-seminer-kurs alanların ortalaması (X̄=18.0) , almayanların ortalamasına (X̄=16.0 ) göre daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Ekolojik ayak izi farkındalık düzeyi ve etkileyen faktörler arasındaki ilişkinin karmaşık olduğu görülmektedir. Bu çalışma, çevre bilincinin artırılmasına yönelik daha etkili stratejilerin geliştirilmesine ve sürdürülebilirlik için bilinçli davranışların teşvik edilmesine ihtiyaç duyulduğunu kanıtlar niteliktedir. Ancak, daha kapsamlı ve uzun vadeli araştırmalara ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.
The aim of this study is to determine the level of ecological footprint awareness among academic and administrative staff at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and to provide basic data to create awareness about environmental sustainability. The research process was conducted using cross-sectional descriptive survey methods, which are quantitative research designs. The universe of the study consists of administrative and academic staff at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University. The research was conducted on a participant group of 310 individuals. Participants were asked questions about ecological footprint and environmental awareness through surveys. The data were analyzed and interpreted through statistical analyses. There was a statistically significant difference between educational levels for the mean scores of the sub-scales of recycling, transportation, and water consumption. The average score for the recycling sub-scale was determined as (X̄=20.0) for participants with a master's degree; (X̄=20.7) for doctoral degree holders; (X̄=20.3) for bachelor's degree holders; (X̄=23.4) for associate degree holders; and (X̄=23.0) for high school graduates. When compared with the status of attending education-seminar-course, a statistically significant result was obtained in the recycling and water consumption sub-scale scores compared to the ecological footprint awareness sub-scales and total score. It was found that the average score for the recycling sub-scale was higher for those who had previously attended education-seminar-course (X̄=24.0) compared to those who had not (X̄=21.0) (p<0.05). Similarly, the average score for the water consumption sub-scale was found to be higher for those who had previously attended education-seminar-course (X̄=18.0) compared to those who had not (X̄=16.0). The results indicate that the relationship between ecological footprint awareness level and influencing factors is complex. This study qualitatively demonstrates the need for the development of more effective strategies to increase environmental awareness and promote conscious behaviors for sustainability. However, more comprehensive and long-term research is needed.
