                                                                                                                                                <abstract><p>Bu çalışma, Kırgız sinemasının önde gelen yönetmenlerinden Aktan Arym Kubat’ın filmlerinde ulusal kimliğin nasıl temsil edildiğini ve bu temsilin Sovyet sonrası Kırgızistan’ın kültürel kimlik inşa sürecindeki rolünü incelemektedir. Sovyetler Birliği’nin dağılmasının ardından Kırgızistan’ın yaşadığı kapsamlı kültürel ve toplumsal dönüşüm bağlamında, Kubat’ın auteur sineması ulusal kimliğin yeniden tanımlanması ve inşası sürecinde kritik bir rol oynamıştır. Araştırmada nitel metodoloji benimsenmiş, yönetmenin dört önemli uzun metrajlı filmi olan The Light Thief (Svet-Ake), The Adopted Son (Beşkempir), The Chimp (Maimil) ve Centaur (Kentaur) film analizi ve metin analizi teknikleriyle sistematik olarak incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın teorik çerçevesini auteur teorisi ve post-kolonyal sinema çalışmaları oluşturmaktadır. Bulgular, Kubat’ın filmlerinde geleneksel Kırgız kültürü, göçebe yaşam tarzının dönüşümü, post-Sovyet ekonomik geçiş süreci ve küreselleşme karşısında yerel değerlerin korunması temalarının çok boyutlu ve eleştirel bir perspektifle işlendiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Araştırma sonucunda, yönetmenin filmlerinin Kırgız ulusal kimliğini dar milliyetçi bir bakış açısından ziyade evrensel insani değerlerle harmanlayarak çok katmanlı bir şekilde temsil ettiği görülmüştür. Bu özgün yaklaşım, Kubat’ın uluslararası film festivallerinde tanınmasına katkıda bulunmuş ve Sovyet sonrası Orta Asya sinemasında ayırt edici bir konum edinmesini sağlamıştır.</p></abstract>

                            <p>This study looks at how films by Aktan Arym Kubat show national identity. He is a main director in Kyrgyz cinema. The study also analyzes how this showing affects building cultural identity in post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan. After the Soviet Union broke apart, Kyrgyzstan went through a full cultural and social change. In this setting, Kubat’s films played a big part in changing and rebuilding national identity. The research uses a qualitative method - it inspects four important films by the director: “The Light Thief (Svet-Ake)”, “The Adopted Son (Beşkempir)”, “The Chimp (Maimil)” along with “Centaur (Kentaur)”. The study uses film plus textual analysis to do this. The study’s theory comes from auteur theory and post colonial cinema studies.The findings show that Kubat’s films talk about old Kyrgyz culture and how the nomadic way of life changed; they also discuss the post-Soviet economic shift also keeping local values despite globalization - he approaches these topics from many angles and offers a critical view. The research finds that the director’s films portray Kyrgyz national identity in a complex way. This blends it with shared human values, rather than just showing a narrow national view - this particular way of working helped Kubat become known at world film festivals. It also let him get a specific spot in post-Soviet Central Asian cinema.</p></trans-abstract>
