This study addresses climate injustice in Africa during the Anthropocene, focusing on the role of capitalist system actors in the degradation of nature. It argues that the concept of Colonial Capitalocene can be revised as “Human action (colonialism) plus Africa” Third Africa. The Third Africa can be understood as postcolonial Africa. Following the 1960s, kleptocratic regimes and multinational corporations replaced colonial actors; yet the Third African was unable to become an active agent. Following the era of independence, kleptocratic regimes assumed the role of colonial agents, continuing the structural harm inflicted upon the continent. However, colonial processes encompass not only military or economic domination but also a discursive apparatus of power. The knowledge systems and ecological relations of colonized peoples were redefined within the framework of Western epistemic regimes. In light of these premises, examples from the literature that focus on the resistance strategies developed by the Ogoni people against the Nigerian government and international corporations are examined as a case study within the framework of the Colonial Capitalocene. In conclusion, the rights-based, political, and evolving ecological knowledge–based resistance strategies developed by the Third African in response to environmental crises caused by destructive external actors can be regarded as central modes of struggle against climate injustice.

Kolonyal Kapitalosen’in İzinde: Nijerya’da Ogoni Halkının Ekolojik Direnişi
