Interview with Renata Salecl on the Spirit of the Time and Emotions

Slovenian philosopher and sociologist Renata Salecl is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Criminology at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana and a Professor of at the School of Law, Birkbeck College, University of London. Embodying a deeply interdisciplinary approach, her scholarship brings together critical legal studies, criminology, political ideology analysis, and psychoanalysis. Her research focuses on dissecting late-capitalist society and subjectivity through concepts and emotions such as anxiety, ignorance, rudeness, perfectionism, burnout, anger, apathy, among others. In an effort to critically open up the complex spirit of our time, we conducted this insightful online interview with Prof. Renata Salecl on June 16, 2026, for this issue of Moment Journal.
