Hüsamettin Arslan, bu eserinde bilimsel bilgi hakkında konuşmayı ve bilim sosyolojisini tartışmayı amaçlamaktadır. Arslan'ın doktora tezinin kitaba dönüştürülmesiyle ortaya çıkan bu eser, Arslan'a göre bilim sosyolojisi alanında hazırlık aşaması özelliği taşır. Çünkü ülkemizde bu alanda yazılmış olan ilk eserdir. Öte yandan Arslan, eserinde bilginin nasıl oluşturulduğu ve nasıl kabul gördüğüne yönelik tartışmalara yer vermektedir. Eserin akademinin içinden bir ses olması dolayısıyla, genç araştırmacılar için bir motivasyon kaynağı olabileceği ve özellikle sosyal bilimler alanındaki okuyucular için anlamlı sorgulamalara kapı aralayacağı düşünülmektedir.
In this work, Hüsamettin Arslan aims to talk about scientific knowledge and discuss the sociology of science. According to Arslan, this work, which was created by turning Arslan's doctoral thesis into a book, is a preparatory phase in the field of sociology of science. Because it is the first work written in this field in our country. On the other hand, Arslan includes discussions in his work about how knowledge is created and how it is accepted. The author's main thesis on this subject is that for scientific knowledge to be accepted, the epistemic community that creates it must be accepted. The author evaluates this argument by both making a detailed analysis of the concepts and considering the requirements for the information presented to be considered legitimate. Since the work is a voice from within the academy, it is thought that it can be a source of motivation for young researchers and open the door to meaningful inquiries, especially for readers in the field of social sciences.
