<p>During the last century, as result of a sharp increase in the total number of refugees, approximately 4% of the world&#039;s population continues to live in the status of immigrant. Although it is possible to evaluate the factors that affect the migration decisions of individuals under two main headings as political uncertainties and socio-economic problems, it is known that many specific reasons are also effective. This study aims to analyze the socio-economic factors which have impact on the individuals’ immigration decision. Hence, a city-level panel data from 2016 to 2019 for 81 is employed to estimate the factors affecting migration from Turkey to abroad. This empirical analysis is conducted by using four different models: (1) Logistic regression, (2) weighted least squares method, (3) adjusted variance, and (4) count data methods. The findings show that unemployment rate and median income level are two economic factors which have statistically significant impact on the individuals’ immigration decision. Additionally, (il)literacy rate and the refugee inflow are two sociological factors which are related to the increase in the number of individuals decided to move to another country.</p></trans-abstract>
