The aim of this study, which is based on document analysis and numerical data, is to identify philatelic materials on earthquakes in Turkey. The data of this study, which does not require an ethics committee report, consists of 7 commemorative stamps, 2 personal stamps, 3 first day envelopes, 3 special day envelopes, 1 envelope with special date stamp, 1 special date stamp, 2 postal cards and 2 maximum cards issued between 1975-2024. The subheadings of the study are as follows: V. European Earthquake Engineering Conference 1975, VII. World Earthquake Engineering Conference 1980, Earthquake 1999, 5th Anniversary of August 17th Earthquake, Earthquake Week, Earthquake Does Not Kill, Negligence Kills, Champion Angels 2023, international editions of postage stamps themed February 6, 2023, special day envelope themed Selam Olsun Gidenlere-2 and personal stamps themed TMMOB Chamber of Geophysical Engineers Istanbul Branch. Accordingly, it has been observed that the number and type of earthquake-themed philatelic designs in Turkey are few. The analysis revealed that official editions were usually issued during a period when an important event was hosted or after a major disaster event. Therefore, it has been concluded that the earthquake phenomenon in Turkey is quickly forgotten in normal times, while in the event of a major disaster, awareness increases suddenly.
Doküman incelemesi ve sayısal verilerin esas alınmasıyla oluşturulan bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye içerikli deprem konulu filatelik materyalleri tespit etmeye çalışmaktır. Etik kurul raporu gerektirmeyen bu araştırmanın verileri 1975-2024 yılları arasında tedavüle çıkarılan 7 adet anma pulu ile 2 adet kişisel pul, 3 adet ilk gün zarfı, 3 adet özel gün zarfı, 1 adet özel tarih damgalı zarf, 1 adet özel tarih damgası, 2 adet posta kartı ve 2 adet maksimum karttan oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın alt başlıkları V. Avrupa Deprem Mühendisliği Konferansı 1975, VII. Dünya Deprem Mühendisliği Konferansı 1980, Deprem 1999, 17 Ağustos Depreminin 5. Yıl Dönümü, Deprem Haftası, Deprem Öldürmez İhmal Öldürür, Şampiyon Melekler 2023, 6 Şubat 2023 temalı posta pullarının uluslararası baskıları, Selam Olsun Gidenlere-2 temalı özel gün zarfı ve TMMOB Jeofizik Mühendisleri Odası İstanbul Şubesi temalı kişisel pullar biçiminde sıralanmıştır. Buna göre Türkiye’deki deprem konulu filatelik tasarımların sayı ve tür itibarıyla az olduğu görülmüştür. Yapılan analizler, resmî baskıların genellikle önemli bir organizasyona ev sahipliği yapıldığı bir dönemde ya da yaşanan büyük bir afet olayının ardından yayınlandığını ortaya koymuştur. Dolayısıyla Türkiye'de deprem olgusunun normal süreçte çok çabuk unutulduğu, büyük bir afet durumunda ise farkındalığın bir anda arttığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
