Bilginin nasıl üretildiğini temel araştırma konusu haline getiren post-yapısalcılar, herhangi bir nesnenin anlaşılması için onun üretildiği bilgi sistemlerinin de araştırılması gerektiğini vurgulamışlardır. Onlara göre yapılar tarih ve kültür aracılığıyla şekillendirilmektedir. Bu nedenle yanlış çıkarım ve yorumlara sebep olabilmektedir. Post-yapısalcılar, kültürel kavramların zaman içerisinde nasıl farklı anlamlara uğradığını ve günümüze ne şekilde ulaştıklarını veya nasıl anlaşıldıklarını çözmeye çalışmışlardır. Post-modernizmin bir alt grubu olarak anılan post-yapısalcılar içerisinde Foucault (her ne kadar bir kısmı kendisini post-yapısalcı olarak tanımlamasa bile), Derrida, Lyotard, Bauman, Baudrillard, Deleuze gibi önemli isimler bulunmaktadır. Bu isimlerin her biri farklı analiz ve yöntemleriyle farklı konularda önemli çalışmalar yapmıştır. Meta anlatıları, bütüncül oldukları için eleştiren post-yapısalcı yazarlar iktidar-söylem oluşumlarının ya da dil oyunlarının çoğulluğunu vurgulamışlardır. Post-yapısalcılar toplumsal hayatta yaşanan olumsuzlukları, iktidar eleştirisi üzerinden yani iktidarı sorumlu tutarak yapmışlardır. Bu nedenle bu çalışmada da sadece iktidara dair çözümlemeleri ele alınmıştır. Çalışma özellikle iktidar çözümlemesini detaylı bir şekilde ele alan Foucault’un düşünceleri üzerinde yoğunlaşmıştır.
Post-structuralists, who have made how information is produced the main research topic, have emphasized that in order to understand any object, the information systems in which it is produced must also be investigated. According to them, buildings are shaped through history and culture. For this reason, it may lead to incorrect inferences and interpretations. Post-structuralists have tried to understand how cultural concepts have different meanings over time and how they have reached the present day or how they are understood. Post-structuralists, which are referred to as a sub-group of post-modernism, include important names such as Foucault (even though some of them do not define themselves as post-structuralists), Derrida, Lyotard, Bauman, Baudrillard, Deleuze. Each of these names has done important studies on different subjects with different analyzes and methods. Post-structuralist writers who criticize meta-narratives for being holistic have emphasized the plurality of power-discourse formations or language games. Post-structuralists have dealt with the negativities in social life through criticism of the government, that is, by holding the government responsible. For this reason, only analyzes of power are discussed in this study. The study particularly focused on the thoughts of Foucault, who discussed the analysis of power in detail.
