To determine the value of Ketamine as a premedicant agent in children, 121 children under the age of ten were given 3, 4, 5 ve 6 mg/kg Ketamine intramuscularly. Degree of sedation was graded as «unsatisfactory», «fair», «good» and «very good» in all dose groups.
Administration of Ketamine in doses of 4-5 mg/kg with appro¬priate dose of Atropine 10-15 minutes prior to induction was found satisfactory in providing a sedative, amnesic, analgesic and vagolytic premedication.
