The possibility of prevention of postoperative peritoneal adhe¬sions in rats irrigated with various agents intraabdominally has been investigated after a laparotomy and experimental model of perito¬neal adhesions.
The rats which were irrigated intraabdominally with 2 ml of povidone-iodine containing % 1 active iode died of iodine intoxica¬tion. There was no significant difference in the incidence of post¬operative adhesions between the control group and the other groups where 5 ml of 6 % Dextran 75, 5 ml of 10 % Dextran 30, 10.000 KİÜ Trasylol and 10 ml of 0. % sodium chloride were used for intraab¬dominal irrigation.
