The Effect of Methylprednisolon Acetate on Adhesions Around Canine Nerve Roots After Hemiiaminectomy Operations
Twelve Mongrel dogs were subjected to hemilaminatomy ope¬ration. 80 mg methylprednisolone acetate 2 ml (MpA) was given topically to six dogs and other six dogs were used as control and given serum physiologic (2 ml) during the operations. Formation of scar tissue and adhehsions around the spinal nerve roots and epidural space were demonstrated after these operations. The tissue samples, taken in different times after operation, were evaluated under light microscope. Injection of MpA during hemilaminatomy operation has been found to reduce scar formation around the root.
