SUMMARY
Rapid latex agglutination compared with the throat culture for the dedetection of Group A streptococcal infection.
In this study the (Direct Antigen Identification D.A.I. Strep A test) was compared with the throat culture for accuracy in detecting Group A-beta-hemolytic streptococci on paired throat swabs from 500 children. In this comparison the Direct Antigen Identification test kit had a sensitivity of 79 %; specifity 85 %. positive predictive value 91 %, and negative pre¬dictive value 67 %. When cultures with less than 10 colonies of group A beta-homolytic streptococci per plate were not considered positive, rapid latex agglutination test had a sensitivity of 83 %, specifity % 86, positive predictive value % 92, and negative predictive value % 74.
Özet
Çalışmamızda 500 çocuktan alınan çift boğaz kültüründe A grubu beta-hemolitik streptokokları tanımlama yönünden (Direct Antigen Identification D.A.I. Strep A Test)'in doğruluğu boğaz kültürüyle karşılaştırılmıştır. Testin hassasiyeti % 79, özgüllüğü % 85, tahmini pozitiflik .% 91, tahmini nega¬tiflik % 67'dir. Plak başına 10 koloniden az A-grubu beta-hemolitik streptokok üremesi olan kültürler pozitif olarak değerlendirilmediğinde, lateks aglutinasyon testinin hassasiyeti % 83, özgüllüğü % 86, tahmini pozitiflik % 92, tahmini negatiflik % 74 olmuştur.
