SUMMARY
NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE SCHIZOPHRENIA
To establish the characteristics and clinical significance of positive and negative schizophrenia which are considered as subtypes of schizophrenia twenty-six patients who met the DSM-III-R criteria for schizophrenic disorders were studied in two groups according to their symptoms. As a result of the study the two groups were found to have significant differences in regards to response to neuroleptic treatment, CT findings and family psychopathology. The significance of subtyping schizophrenia as positive and negative is emphasized.
