Thyroid disorders have a predilection for young women and they are encountered with some frequency during pregnancy. Pregnancy, however, usually does not cause impressi-ve thyromegaly, and thus any goiter or nodule recognized during pregnancy should be approached as if pathologic. Grave's disease and hypothroidism can complicate pregnan-cy. Antenatal recognition and appropriate management of this disorders that especially affect the fetus (such as fetal hypothyroidism) is essential in order to prevent fetal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.
