Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Infections
The relation between human papilloma virus (HPV) infection and anogenital precancerous and cancerous lesions has been known for many years. This relation has become more ob-vious with the help of the recent tecniques in molecular biology such as polymerase chain reaction and in-situ hybridization. Thus, certain HPV types have been identified and rela¬ted to vulvar, vaginal, cervical and penile dysplasia and cancer.
In this text; etiology, diagnosis and treatment modalities of HPV infection as well as its re-lation to anogenital dysplastic lesions and cancer are reviewed.
