Alterations Occurred in Endothelial Functions After Coronary Interventions
Every intervenüon such as percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty and stent implantation aimed at increasing lumen size inevitably leads to damage of endothelium. The endothelial cells tend to restore endothelial continuity after arterial injury. Despite regrowth of the endothelium, however, its function may not return to normal. The goal of this review is to summarize the basic mechanism and importance of endothelial dysfunction after coronary interventions in the light of current literature.
