Gastric Cancer in a Young Patient: A Case Report of Twenty Year-Old Patient, and Review of The Literature
In general, gastric cancer is seen in patients at 50-70 years of age. Its incidence in those younger than 35 years of age is approximately 2-5%. In recent years some genetic deficiencies and family history have been primarily accused in the etiopathogenesis of gastric cancer seen in the younger group of patients. We, herewith, reported a 22 year-old male patient with gastric cancer, whose two family members have had gastric cancer and breast cancer. In review with the recent data, we think that genetic deficiencies rather than environmental factors play a major role in the etiology of gastric cancer in young patients.
