Turistlerin Terörist Saldırılara İlk Tepkileri: Atatürk Havalimanı Saldırısı Örneği

Öz

Çalışmanın temel amacı turistlerin Atatürk
Havalimanı saldırısı sonrasındaki ilk tepkilerini ve Türkiye’ye ilişkin
düşüncelerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Bu kapsamda saldırıdan bir hafta sonra
İstanbul’u ziyaret eden yabancı turistlere yönelik bir araştırma
gerçekleştirilmiştir. Görüşme tekniğinin kullanıldığı araştırmaya 30 katılımcı
dahil edilmiştir. Katılımcılara görüşmelerde dört açık uçlu soru
yöneltilmiştir. Turistlere, Atatürk Havalimanı saldırısına ilişkin duyguları,
saldırı sonrasında Türkiye’ye yönelik düşünceleri, saldırının seyahat planlarına
olan etkisi ve Türkiye’deki güvenlik süreçleriyle ilgili düşüncelerine yönelik
sorular sorulmuştur. Betimsel analiz yardımıyla değerlendirilen bulgulara göre
katılımcıların tamamı saldırıya ilişkin üzüntülerini ve saldırının
anlamsızlığını çeşitli şekillerde ifade etmiştir. Bununla birlikte saldırı
öncesi ve sonrasındaki Türkiye’ye ilişkin düşüncelerinde bir değişim olmadığı
ancak kimi katılımcıların özellikle kendi hükümetlerinden gelen uyarılar
doğrultusunda kalabalık yerlerden kaçındığı; seyahat planlarına saldırının bir
etkisinin olmadığı ve katılımcıların sıkça teröristlerin amaçlarından ve
terörist saldırı tehdidinin her yerde olduğundan söz ettiği görülmüştür. Son
olarak katılımcıların Türkiye’nin güvenlik süreçlerine ilişkin düşünceleri
genel itibariyle olumlu olsa da içinde bulunduğu konum gereği ek güvenlik
önlemlerine de gereksinim duyulduğu belirlenmiştir.

Tourists' First Reactions to Terrorist Attacks: The Case of Ataturk Airport Attack

Öz

The main
objective of the study is to reveal the first reactions of tourists’ after
Atatürk Airport terrorist attack and the tourists' thoughts on Turkey after a
terrorist attack. In this context, a survey was conducted to foreign tourists
who visited Istanbul a week after the attack. Interview technique was used and
30 participants included to study. During the interviews, four open-ended
questions were asked to the participants. Tourists were asked about to their
sentiments regarding with Ataturk Airport attack, their opinions about Turkey
after the attack, the impact of the attack on their travel plans and their
thoughts about the security process in Turkey. Through the descriptive analysis
technique, following findings were obtained, all of the participants expressed
their grief and the meaninglessness of the attack in various ways. Although the
participants' opinions about Turkey do not change after the attack, some
participants, especially towards the travel warnings or advisories from their
government stated that they avoid being in crowded places. It was determined
that the attack had no effect on the participants' travel plans. In addition,
participants often expressed the aims of terrorism and the threat of terrorist
attacks everywhere. Finally, even though the participants' opinions about the
security processes in turkey were positive, due to the location, it was
revealed that additional security measure also needed.
