Bu araştırmada ilköğretim birinci kademe öğrencilerinin matematiksel örüntüleri
analiz etme ve tahminde bulunma becerileri incelenmektedir. Bu amaçla İlköğretim birinci
kademe öğrencilerinin; (a) matematiksel örüntüleri analiz etme beceri düzeyleri
kendilerine sunulan örüntünün yapısına göre farklılaşmakta mıdır? (b) matematiksel
örüntüleri analiz etme beceri düzeyleri sınıf seviyelerine göre farklılaşmakta mıdır? (c)
Her türlü örüntüde sınıflara

In this study, the skills of the primary school students in analyzing the mathematical patterns and making predictions were examined. So, answers for these questions were sought: a) Does the skill level of the primary school students in analyzing the mathematical patterns differ according to the structure of the pattern that is presented to them? b) Does the skill level of the primary school students in analyzing the mathematical patterns differ according to their class levels? c) Which prediction strategies do they use? d) What is the distribution of their prediction strategies according to their class level? e) Do their success points those belong to their prediction strategies differ according to their class levels? A test consisting of 40 items was used as the data gathering tool of the study. The research indicated that the students were more successful in the tasks where they were supposed to improve the patterns in both geometric and numeric patterns. It was observed that there was an increase in all sorts of patterns depending on the classes. It was also determined that the prediction strategy that the students succeeded in most was the strategy of rounding and grouping that is included in the operational prediction strategies in terms of prediction skill.
