The middle human type represents a character structure that prefers to stay within its own boundaries within the social order and draws attention with its austere and harmonious qualities. This human type plays an important role in ensuring social stability with its cautious stance both in daily life practices and against power structures. This study seeks to reveal the attitude adopted by society toward power structures and to explore the viewpoint of the average individual on the concept of power through proverbs. The study analyses how the ‘middle human type’, which acts with the motive of self-preservation by distancing itself from power structures and tends to adapt to the social order, appears in proverbs and its effects on social balance and harmony. The proverbs selected in this study were analysed by discourse analysis method and the role of the middle man type's attitude towards power in the social order was interpreted. The passive and cautious approach of the middle man type towards power is evaluated in the light of the unique structure and value systems of Turkish folk culture. In this way, the study contributes towards a more thorough understanding of the link between the average individual and power.
Orta insan tipi, toplumsal düzen içerisinde kendi sınırları içinde kalmayı tercih eden, kanaatkâr ve uyumlu nitelikleriyle dikkat çeken bir karakter yapısını temsil eder. Bu insan tipi, gerek gündelik yaşam pratiklerinde gerekse iktidar yapıları karşısında sergilediği temkinli duruşla toplumsal istikrarın sağlanmasında önemli bir rol üstlenir. Çalışmanın amacı atasözleri aracılığıyla toplumun iktidar yapıları karşısında benimsediği tutumu ve orta insan tipinin iktidar kavramına yönelik bakış açısını ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada, iktidar yapılarıyla arasına mesafe koyarak kendini koruma güdüsüyle hareket eden ve toplumsal düzene uyum sağlama eğiliminde olan “orta insan tipi”nin atasözlerinde nasıl temsil edildiği ile bu temsilin toplumsal denge ve uyum üzerindeki etkileri incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmada seçilen atasözleri, söylem analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiş ve orta insan tipinin iktidara karşı geliştirdiği tutumun toplumsal düzende üstlendiği rol yorumlanmıştır. Orta insan tipinin, iktidara karşı sergilediği edilgen ve temkinli yaklaşım, Türk halk kültürünün özgün yapısı ve değer sistemleri ışığında değerlendirilmiştir. Böylece, orta insan tipi ile iktidar arasındaki ilişkinin derinlemesine anlaşılmasına katkı sağlanmıştır.
