Köpek kafası taşıyan rasyonel insan teorisi bağlamında, insan-canavar melezliğinin görsel olarak yorumlanması, öteki kavramının teolojik çerçevede bir Hristiyan Aziz anlatısı üzerinden nasıl değerlendirildiği sorgulanmıştır. Makale öncelikli olarak Sinokefalos tasarımını açıklamaktadır. Büyük İskender öncesi Yunan toplumunun Hindistan ve Afrika bölgelerinde yaşayan insanları karakterize etmek için kullandığı bu tanımlayıcı modelin arkasındaki yapı ve mantık incelenmiş, ardından Orta Çağ Avrupa&#039;sındaki etkisi ve 8.yüzyılda ortaya çıkan Aziz Christopher anlatısının görsel temsilleri değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, sanatta geniş bir üretim alanına sahip olan Sinokefalos imgesinin kavramsal alt yapısını detaylı olarak açıklayabilmek ve imge teolojisi açısından ikonografiye sunduğu katkıyı ortaya koyabilmektir.</p>

<p>This study aims to address the origin and development of the representation of Saint Christopher image of the dog-headed human (Cynocephalus) in Christian art. Within the context of the theory of the rational human bearing a dog&#039;s head, the visual interpretation of human-monster hybridity has been examined, questioning how the concept of the other is evaluated through the narrative of a Christian Saint within a theological framework. The paper primarily elucidates the design of Cynocephalus. The underlying structure and logic of this descriptive model, employed by pre-Alexandrian Greek society to characterize people living in the regions of India and Africa, has been scrutinized, followed by an evaluation of its influence in Medieval Europe and the visual representations of the Saint Christopher narrative that emerged in the 8th century. The objective of this study is to provide a detailed explication of the conceptual foundation of the Cynocephalus image, which holds a significant production area in art, and to demonstrate its contribution to iconography in terms of image theology.</p></trans-abstract>
