Typography has gone through many different phases over the years. Typography, which has been affected by technology, discoveries, economy and trends, has changed shape in each period and has differentiated according to the aesthetic understanding of the periods. The use of typography in Art Deco, which emerged as an architectural trend, has been adapted to the needs of the trend. The famous French (Ukrainian origin) graphic designer Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron, known as Cassandre, who is known for his advertising posters, has made important designs in the language of the Art Deco Art Movement. These designs have inspired important designers and the artist has become more well-known in the world. In this study, typography in the Art Deco art movement is examined with a qualitative research method on Cassandre's poster designs and the differences between it and traditional typography are revealed in the context of the basic principles of typography. The use of typography in the Art Deco art movement and its visual effects and contributions to the style of the movement are investigated.

Tipografi uzun yıllar boyunca çok çeşitli evrelerden geçmiştir. Teknolojiden, keşiflerden, ekonomiden ve akımlardan etkilenen tipografi, her dönemde şekil değiştirmiş ve dönemlerin estetik anlayışına göre farklılaşmıştır. Mimari bir akım olarak ortaya çıkan Art Deco’da tipografi kullanımı, akımın gereksinimlerine göre uyumlanmıştır. Reklam afişleri ile bilinen ünlü Fransız (Ukrayna asıllı) grafik tasarımcı Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron bilinen ismi ile Cassandre, Art Deco Sanat Akımı dilinde önemli tasarımlar yapmıştır. Bu tasarımlar önemli tasarımcılara esin kaynağı olmuş ve sanatçı, dünyada daha bilinir olmuştur. Bu çalışmada Cassandre’nin afiş tasarımları üzerinde Art Deco sanat akımında tipografi nitel araştırma yöntemi ile incelenmekte ve tipografinin temel ilkeleri bağlamında geleneksel tipografi ile arasındaki farklar ortaya koyulmaktadır. Tipografinin Art Deco sanat akımında kullanımı ile akımının tarzına olan görsel etkileri ve katkıları araştırılmaktadır.
