                                                                                                <abstract><p>Buçalışmanın amacı ortaokul matematik öğretmen adaylarının ondalık gösterimlerleçarpma ve bölme işlemlerinde kullandıkları hesaplamaya dayalı stratejileri incelemektir.Bu amaçla, öğretmen adaylarının, ondalık gösterimlerle yapılan çarpma ve bölmeişlemlerinde ondalık işaretin yerini belirlemeye ilişkin performanslarına,ondalık gösterimlerle çarpma ve bölme işlemlerini yaparken kullandıkları stratejilereve bu işlemleri yaparken ortaya çıkan hatalarına odaklanılmıştır. ÇalışmaAnkara’da bir devlet üniversitesinde ilköğretim matematik öğretmenliğiprogramında Matematik öğretim yöntemleri-1 dersini alan 49 öğretmen adayının katılımıylagerçekleşmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak açık uçlu bir test uygulanmıştır. Butest çarpma ve bölme işlemlerinin her biri için 3 soru içermektedir. Ayrıca, butest verilen her bir soruya verilen cevabın gerekçesini ve düşünme yolunu açıklamayıiçermektedir. Öğretmen adaylarının bu sorulara verdikleri cevaplarının veaçıklamalarının analizinde betimsel istatistik (frekans) ve nitel içerikanalizi yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi sonucunda, öğretmenadaylarının büyük çoğunluğunun çarpma ve bölme işlemlerinde ondalık işaretinyerini doğru olarak belirlediği görülmüştür. Öğretmen adaylarının çözümleri kuraladayalı ve hesapsal tahmine dayalı stratejiler olmak üzere iki kategoriyeayrılmıştır. Kurala dayalı strateji altında kesre çevirme, ezber, kesrigenişletme ve üslü ifade yöntemlerinin; hesapsal tahmine dayalı stratejialtında ise ön-son, referans ve yuvarlama yöntemlerinin kullanıldığıgörülmüştür. Ayrıca, yanlış yapan az sayıda öğretmen adayı ezber veya kesreçevirme yöntemlerini kullanırken hatalar yapmıştır.</p></abstract>

                            <p>Theaim of this study was to investigate prospective middle school mathematicsteachers’ use of computational strategies in multiplication and division ofdecimals. In this respects, the focus was the teachers’ performances, strategies,and errors in placing the decimal point in multiplication and division withdecimals. The participants were 49 prospectivemiddle school mathematics teachers in a public university. The data werecollected through a written test which included two sets of items onmultiplication and division with decimals. Descriptive statistics (frequency)and qualitative content analysis were used in the data analysis. The findingsrevealed that most of the teachers placed the decimal point correctly whileconducting multiplication and division operations with decimals. In addition, theirwritten explanations on their answers were divided into two categories as rulebased strategy and computational estimation based strategy. It was seenthat while the methods of convert to fraction, rote memorization, expand thefraction and convert to exponential notation were categorized under the rulebased strategy, the methods of front-end, benchmark and rounding were categorizedunder the computational estimation based strategies.In addition, few participants who gave incorrect answers made errors in usingthe methods of rote memorization and convert to fraction.</p></trans-abstract>
