Individuals with preexisting healthconditions, such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and those with weakened immune systems are atincreased risk for severe complications. Cancerpatients have been adversely affected by the pandemic, both due to the disease itself and its treatments. Theaim of this study is to evaluate the impact of COVID 19on mortality in cancer patients followed in the intensivecare unit (ICU).Material and MethodWe conducted a retrospective analysis of 275COVID-19 patients who were admitted to the ICUbetween January 2020 and April 2022. Among thesepatients, 72 had a cancer diagnosis and were classifiedinto two groups: Group 1 (n=203) included patientswithout cancer, and Group 2 (n=72) included patientswith cancer. We recorded age, gender, comorbidities,PCR test results, laboratory parameters, APACHE2and SOFA scores, duration of ICU stay, mechanicalventilation requirement, and duration of mechanicalventilation for all patients.ResultsHypertension was significantly more common in Group1 compared to Group 2 [97 (48%) and 24 (33%),respectively); p</p>
