ObjectiveThis study aims to investigate the time of the firstskin-to-skin contact in a baby-friendly hospital and thefactors that make a difference in exclusive breast milkintake until discharge and their correlation with eachother.Material and MethodIn this retrospective and descriptive study, the datawere obtained from electronic records and patientfollow-up records of 513 mothers who gave birth ina baby-friendly hospital and their infants betweenMarch 2022 and March 2023.ResultsIt was concluded that 90.1% of the mothers wereable to have skin-to-skin contact with their babiesin the first hour after delivery. The mean duration ofthe first skin-to-skin contact was 62.92±1.98 minutes.It was also found that 97.1% of the newborns wereexclusively breastfed until discharge with an averageof 10.67±0.04 times a day, and only 2.1% were fedwith formula nutrition once. It was further noted thatmaternal age and birth weight of the newborn hadan impact on the time of skin-to-skin contact; thosenewborns who started skin-to-skin contact in the firsthour were reported to have a higher rate of exclusivebreastfeeding until discharge than those who beganskin-to-skin contact later.ConclusionIt was revealed that the average skin-to-skin contacttime was close to one hour and the rate of infantsreceiving exclusive breastfeeding until discharge washigh in a baby-friendly hospital. It was suggested thatincreasing the number of baby-friendly hospitals inour country may be useful in promoting breastfeeding.
Bu çalışma, bebek dostu bir hastanede ilk ten tenetemas zamanını ve taburcu olana kadar sadece annesütü alımında fark oluşturan faktörler ile bunlar arasındakiilişkinin incelenmesini amaçlamaktadır.Gereç ve YöntemRetrospektif ve tanımlayıcı olarak yapılan çalışmada,veriler Mart 2022-Mart 2023 tarihleri arasında bebekdostu bir hastanede doğum yapan 513 anne ve bebeklerineait elektronik kayıtlardan ve hasta izlem kayıtlarındanelde edilmiştir.BulgularAnnelerin %90,1’inin doğum sonrası ilk bir saatte bebekleriile ten tene temas kurabildikleri belirlenmiştir.İlk ten tene temas zamanı ortalaması 62,92±1,98 dakikaolarak bulunmuştur. Yenidoğanların %97,1’inintaburcu olana kadar sadece anne sütü ile beslendiği,günde ortalama 10,67±0,04 kez anne sütü aldığı,%2,1’inin bir kez yapay besin ile beslendiği görülmüştür.Anne yaşının ve yenidoğanın doğum ağırlığınınten tene temas zamanını etkilediği; ilk bir saatte tentene temasa başlayan yenidoğanların daha geç tentene temasa başlayanlara göre, taburcu olana kadarsadece anne sütü ile beslenme oranının daha yüksekolduğu belirlenmiştir.SonuçBebek dostu hastane unvanı alan bir kurumda tentene temas zamanı ortalamasının bir saate yakın olduğuve taburcu olana kadar sadece anne sütü alanbebek oranının yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Ülkemizdebebek dostu hastane unvanı alan hastanelerinsayılarının artması anne sütünün teşviki konusundayararlı olabilir.
