A special study module sample on preparing an effective presentationSpecial study modules (SSM) are recently introduced education activities in medical education and adoptedby many medical schools rapidly to strengthen their core curriculum. The primary aim of this applicationis to provide medical students with opportunities to study on and run with the topics which they areespecially interested in. Also there are some secondary aims such as enhancing critical thinking, timemanagement and communication skills of the students, or teaching them how to access required scientificinformation. SSM in Akdeniz University started first in academic year 2008-2009. The aim of this paper isto describe a SSM module titled Preparation for an effective presentation which was conducted in 20092010 academic year and to present feed-back results obtained from the applicants

Özel çalışma modülü (ÖÇM) tıp eğitiminde son dönemlerde yaygınlığı artan ve fakültelerin çekirdek eğitim programını güçlendiren bir eğitsel etkinliktir. Öğrencilerin belirli bir alanda derinlemesine öğrenmeleri, öğrenirken daha fazla sorumluluk almaları, eleştirel düşünme, iletişim, zaman yönetimi, bilgiye ulaşmayı öğrenme gibi farklı amaçları bulunmaktadır. Akdeniz Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinde ÖÇM, 2008-2009 eğitim döneminde ilk kez uygulanmaya başlamıştır. Bu yazıda Akdeniz Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinde 2009-2010 eğitim döneminde “Etkin sunu hazırlama” başlığı ile açılan bir ÖÇM'nin tanıtılması ve öğrencilerin bu ÖÇM ile ilgili görüşlerinin sunulması amaçlanmıştır.
