A STUDY ON THE EXPERIENCE OF TEACHERS WORKING IN SPECIAL EDUCATION

Berna TUTAK [1]

Teachers have a lot of responsibility in raising new generations. Teaching is a profession that requires self-sacrifice, tolerance, constant self-renewal, loving the profession, as well as knowledge of the field and profession. However, due to some stress sources, teaching profession is a risky profession, especially in terms of negatively affecting the mental health of teachers. Therefore, burnout may occur in this process, which can affect many factors such as teachers, students, education system and parents in a very bad way. In this study, a literature review was made on the burnout status of teachers working in special education. The screening model was used as the method. For this study, literature review related to the study subject has been made and all available sources have been reached. Later, these available sources were examined and converted into a report on the subject of the study. As a result of the study, it was concluded that special education teachers experienced burnout syndrome in terms of gender, socio-economic level perceptions, support from colleagues, whether their occupations find their deserved place in society, especially emotional exhaustion and depersonalization varying depending on discretionary variables.
