                                                                                                <abstract><p>Ahşap malzemeyi korumak için çeşitli kimyasallar bulunmaktadır ve bu kimyasallardan biri de yağlardır. Bu çalışmada, iğde (Elaeagnus angustifolia L.) odununda bazı yüzey özellikleri [beyazlık indeksi (WI*) ve renk parametreleri] üzerine antik ve tarçınlı doğal ahşap koruyucu yağlarının etkileri araştırılmıştır. Sonuçlara göre, toplam renk farklılıklar açısından, antik yağ ile ∆L*: -17.48, ∆a*: 1.81, ∆b*: -8.39, ∆C*: -6.31, ∆H*: 5.82 ve ∆E*: 19.48 ve tarçınlı yağ ile ∆L*: -9.99, ∆a*: 2.61, ∆b*: -2.05, ∆C*: -0.61, ∆H*: 3.26 ve ∆E*: 10.53 değerleri elde edilmiştir. Her iki yağ uygulamasıyla birlikte a* değerlerinde artış gözlemlenirken, L*, b*, C*, ho değerleri ile her iki yöndeki WI* değerlerinde azalmalar tespit edilmiştir. L*, b*, C*, ho değerleri ve her iki yöndeki WI* değerlerinde, antik yağ uygulaması tarçınlı yağa göre daha fazla azalma eğilimi göstermiştir. Çalışmada kullanılan kimyasallar, ahşabın renk ve beyazlık indeksi özelliklerinde değişikliklere neden olmuştur.</p></abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">
                            <p>Various chemicals are available to protect wood materials, and one of these is oils. In this study, the effects of antique and cinnamon natural wood preservative oils on certain surface properties [whiteness index (WI*) and colour parameters] of Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia L.) wood were investigated. According to the results, in terms of total colour differences, the values obtained with antique oil were ∆L*: -17.48, ∆a*: 1.81, ∆b*: -8.39, ∆C*: -6.31, ∆H*: 5.82, and ∆E*: 19.48, while with cinnamon oil, the values were ∆L*: -9.99, ∆a*: 2.61, ∆b*: -2.05, ∆C*: -0.61, ∆H*: 3.26, and ∆E*: 10.53. Both oil applications resulted in an increase in a* values, while decreases were observed in L*, b*, C*, ho values, and WI* values in both directions. The decreases in L*, b*, C*, ho values, and WI* values in both directions were more pronounced with the application of antique oil compared to cinnamon oil. The chemicals used in this study caused changes in the colour and whiteness index properties of the wood.</p></trans-abstract>
