The Effects of Different Cadmium Levels on Growth, Cd, Fe, Zn Concentrations, and Antioxidative Enzyme Activities in Cotton Plant (Gossipium Hirsutum L)

Abstract

Cotton plants (Gossipium hirsutum L.) grown in nutrient solution and plants was exposure to different cadmium treatments (0, 2, 10, 30 µmol/L) for 5 days under controlled conditions. The effect of Cd on dry matter, Cd, Zn and Fe concentrations, chlorophyll content, catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) enzyme activitities of cotton seedlings were investigated. İncreasing Cd treatments led to significant decline in drymatter and plant height . Increasing cadmium treatments led to a significant increase in Cd and decrease in Fe concentrations of plants,, while the concentration of Zn did not significantly affected by Cd treatments. Kl a, b, and Kl a+b content of leaves decreased with increasing Cd treatments. CAT activity increased with increasing Cd treatments while APX activity increased at 2 µmol/L Cd and decreased at10, 30 µmol/LCd treatments

Farklı Kadmiyum Düzeylerinin Pamuk Bitkisinde (Gossipium Hirsutum L) Büyüme, Cd, Fe, Zn Konsantrasyonu ve Antioksidatif Enzim Aktiviteleri Üzerine Etkisi

Abstract

Kontrollu koşullar altında, besin çözeltisinde yetiştirilen pamuk (Gossipium hirsutum L.) bitkileri 5 gün süre ile farklı
dozlarda (0, 2, 10, 30 µmol L-1) kadmiyuma maruz bırakılarak kadmiyumun pamuk fidelerinde yeşil aksam kuru ağırlığı, Cd, Fe
ve Zn konsantrasyonları, klorofil içeriği ile katalaz (KAT) ve askorbat peroksidaz (APX) enzim aktiviteleri üzerine etkisi
araştırılmıştır. Artan Cd uygulamaları yeşil aksam kuru ağırlığı ve bitki boyunda önemli düzeyde azalmaya yol açmıştır.
Kadmiyum dozunun artışı yeşil aksam Cd konsantrasyonunu arttırırken, Fe konsantrasyonunun önemli düzeyde düşmesine yol
açmış, bitkilerin Zn konsantrasyonu ise Cd uygulamalarından önemli düzeyde etkilenmemiştir. Yapraklarda yapılan klorofil
analizleri besin çözeltisindeki Cd dozunun artışı ile Kl a, Kl b ve Kl a+b düzeylerinin düştüğünü göstermiştir. Antioksidatif
enzimlerden KAT aktivitesi Cd uygulamaları ile yükselirken, APX aktivitesi 2 µmol L-1 Cd dozunda yükselmiş, 10, 30 µmol L-1
Cd dozlarında ise azalma eğilimi göstermiştir.
