<p>This study highlights the importance of post-disaster temporary shelter systems and proposes an innovative “Life Capsule” developed using layered construction methods. Shelter in emergencies requires not only rapid production but also the provision of quality of life, privacy, accessibility, cultural adaptation, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) standards. Examples of “shelter projects” include the ‘Rohingya Camp Shelters’ (Bangladesh), the ‘T-Shelter’ developed by UNHCR, and the ‘Transitional Shelter’ shelters used in Nepal and Haiti. Although community participation is strong in these types of shelters, interior layout, cultural norms, and climatic comfort are often neglected. The proposed model combines a modular shell produced with 3D concrete printing with flexible, customizable, and Sphere-compliant interior solutions, thereby increasing the sustainability of post-disaster shelters by ensuring logistical efficiency and human-centered quality of life. A new capsule proposal is introduced specifically for Türkiye. Layered construction methods used in the field have been employed as prefabricated construction systems to produce the capsule. The capsule structure has been compared with shelter project parameters and found to be positive in some aspects and negative in others.</p></trans-abstract>
