Aim: This study aimed to determine the clinical summer internship experiences of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department students.Materials and methods: This study was designed as a cross-sectional study. The study included students who completed their clinical internships at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in the summer of the 2023-2024 academic year. Questions regarding demographic information and internship satisfaction were queried via Google Forms.Results: A total of 124 Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department students were included in the study (mean age 22.00 years [SD 1.47 years]; 89 girls, 35 boys). It was seen that 78.3% of the students did their internships in public hospitals and the others in different institutions. It was seen that 54% of the students were offered food, and 75% preferred the city where their families were located. 67.7% of the students stated that the theoretical courses covered during the term contributed to the internship, 80.6% had the opportunity to apply the theoretical information they learned during the internship and reinforced this, 96% gained new knowledge and skills through the internship experience, and 92.8% stated that the internship they did was suitable for their education and profession. Although students' general satisfaction with the internship was positive, it was observed that they had requested such as seeing more cases (66.9%), providing a restroom during the internship (50.8%), and reducing the number of interns (43.5%).Discussion: Although the students' clinical summer internship experiences were generally positive, it was observed that they had demands to increase internship satisfaction. Solutions should be sought for this by considering the students' expectations and demands.
Amaç: Bu çalışma, Fizyoterapi ve Rehabilitasyon Bölümü öğrencilerinin klinik yaz stajı deneyimlerini belirlemeyi amaçlamıştır.Gereç ve yöntemler: Bu çalışma kesitsel bir çalışma olarak tasarlanmıştır. Çalışmaya 2023-2024 akademik yılı yazında Fizyoterapi ve Rehabilitasyon Bölümü'nde klinik stajlarını tamamlayan öğrenciler dahil edilmiştir. Demografik bilgiler ve staj memnuniyetiyle ilgili sorular Google Forms aracılığıyla sorgulanmıştır.Sonuçlar: Çalışmaya toplam 124 Fizyoterapi ve Rehabilitasyon Bölümü öğrencisi dahil edilmiştir (ortalama yaş 22,00 yıl [SD 1,47 yıl]; 89 kız, 35 erkek). Öğrencilerin %78,3'ünün stajlarını devlet hastanelerinde, geri kalanının ise farklı kurumlarda yaptığı görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin %54’üne yemek imkânı sağlandığı, %75’inin ise ailelerinin bulunduğu şehri tercih ettiği görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin %67,7’si dönem içerisinde gördükleri teorik derslerin staja katkı sağladığını, %80,6’sı staj sırasında öğrendikleri teorik bilgileri uygulama fırsatı bulduğunu ve bunu pekiştirdiğini, %96’sı staj deneyimiyle yeni bilgi ve beceriler kazandığını, %92,8’i ise yaptıkları stajın eğitim ve mesleklerine uygun olduğunu belirtmiştir. Öğrencilerin stajdan genel memnuniyetleri olumlu olmakla birlikte daha fazla vaka görülmesi (%66,9), staj sırasında tuvalet sağlanması (%50,8), stajyer sayısının azaltılması (%43,5) gibi taleplerde bulundukları görülmüştür.Tartışma: Öğrencilerin klinik yaz stajı deneyimleri genel olarak olumlu olmakla birlikte staj memnuniyetinin artırılması yönünde talepleri olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin beklenti ve talepleri dikkate alınarak buna yönelik çözümler aranmalıdır.
