<p>ABSTRACTBackground: In a patient&#039;s evaluation of the physician-patient relationship, their trust in the physician&#039;s social communication skills has a greater impact than their trust in the physician&#039;s competence. This has brought to the forefront the need to improve the physician-patient relationship in many aspects.Aims: To examine the attitudes and behaviors of medical students towards communication skills is to be evaluated. Methods: Our study is a descriptive study. A questionnaire, developed through a literature review, was administered online to students at Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine. No sample was selected; the aim was to reach the entire population. Results: Our study found that, according to the Communication Skills Attitude Scale (CSAS), women scored higher than men, 3rd and 4th-year students scored higher than 5th-year students, students whose family income exceeded their expenses scored higher than those who took communication skills courses, and students whose mothers had a high school education or lower scored higher than those whose mothers had a university education or higher. The difference was statistically significant. Students living in dormitories scored higher on the Negative Attitude Scale (NAS), and a statistically significant difference was found. Conclusion: Our study evaluated many factors that can generally affect communication skills; however, more extensive studies are needed to explore the related factors in educational environments. In addition to positive attitudes, negative attitudes among students should also be considered, and communication skills courses should be given as much prominence as possible in medical education. Keywords: Communication, Medical School, Physician-Patient Relations</p></trans-abstract>
