In 1995 high increases were observed in textiles and clothing investments of Turkey. The largest investments were in the cotton yarn and knitting sectors. In this, the fear of some of the incentives to be ended following the customs unions played a big part. As a result. Turkey attained the first place in the world openend spinning investments, which meet the yarn reguirement of the circular knitting machines. On the other hand, a surplus capacity was created both in the cotton yarn and circular knitting sectors.
