<p>Pain is a biopsychosocial problem that significantly affects our lives, causes discomfort, and restricts movement. Therefore, people have used various methods to treat pain for years. Pain resulting from surgical procedures, in particular, is a significant factor in biopsychosocial recovery. Pain management is categorized into three main areas: pharmacological, non-pharmacological, and surgical treatment methods. The Transversus Abdominis Plane (TAP) block is one of the surgical treatment methods for pain. Also known as regional block, the TAP block is one of the applications involved in the multimodal management of pain. The TAP procedure was first described by Rafi AN in 2001. Initially performed using a blind technique, it was later performed with ultrasound guidance for the first time by Hebbart et al. in 2007. The TAP procedure is particularly used to control and reduce the severity of acute and chronic pain following abdominal surgeries such as appendectomy, abdominal hysterectomy, prostatectomy, and nephrectomy. It is stated that this method reduces opioid use following surgical procedures, and consequently, opioid side effects (such as nausea, vomiting, and dizziness) are also reduced. Furthermore, studies indicate that TAP block application reduces postoperative complications and costs, and increases patient comfort due to its ease of application. It is important for nurses to provide patients with necessary education during the perioperative period and for the patient to feel that they are part of their own treatment. Informing the patient about pain management before surgery plays a role in more effective pain management following surgical procedures. Nursing care after TAP block application varies between institutions. Basic care includes procedures such as diagnosis, patient monitoring, record keeping, and wound dressing.</p></trans-abstract>
