Plants Sold In Elazig Herbalists For Phytotherapy Purpose
Abstract
This study was carried out to determine the plants sold for phytotherapy purposes in Elazig provinceCentral herbalists in 2020-2022. Some important issues were considered in the collection, sale and consumption of these plants, which affect human health and are known as folk remedies sold in herbalists. The number of medicinal plants sold in Elazig herbalist was around 80 and their Latin and Turkish names, purpose of usage. parts used, method of collections, source from the plant were asked and declared in this study. The questions were asked to the selected herbalists and the information received was recorded. 80 taxa belonging to plant 39 families, 11 drugs belongs to Lamiaceae, 8 to Rosaceae, 7 to Asteraceae and 5 drugs to Zingiberaceae. It is stated that the most of the medicinal plants sold by herbalists in Elazig are used for treatment and supplementation in respiratory diseases, weight loss and digestive system disorders. While 36 plant species collected and sold in Elazig were identified, 44 of the plants determined that to be of provincial or foreign origin. In line with the questions asked to the herbalists, tables were prepared and the reasons for demanding the herbs and the treatment of which disease the herbalists selling the herbs were stated.
