TRANSMİGRATİON OF SOUL IN THE POEMS OF PIR SULTAN ABDAL
Öz
This study aims to examine the original meanings and poetic expressions of the concepts of incarnation, reincarnation, and metamorphosis in the works of the 16th-century Alevi-Bektashi poet Pir Sultan Abdal.
The Alevism ideology, shaped by Anatolia's unique socio-cultural and historical conditions, significantly differs from the official interpretations of Islam with its understanding of the essence of existence and the nature of the soul. Alevi poetry represents an epistemological understanding rather than an ontological reality, and with this perspective, it presents an alternative way of reading Islamic thought.
In the religious poems, sayings (Deyişler), and poems that constitute the literary dimension of the tradition, the understanding of existence, the cosmic position of human beings, and their mystical relationship with the divine are among the main themes frequently addressed. Within the Alevi-Bektashi belief system, the existence and eternal course of the soul are of central importance in both mystical and philosophical dimensions.
The research reveals that incarnation is interpreted as the manifestation of the divine essence in the human body, Reincarnation as the cyclical journey of the soul, and Metamorphosis as divine manifestations through transformation. Reincarnation, in particular, is presented as a mystical process shaped around the Truth of Muhammad, differently from the classical understanding of reincarnation, on the axis of the soul's eternity, spiritual unity, and continuous evolution.
The study emphasizes the importance of evaluating these concepts, which differentiate Alevi-Bektashi poetry from traditional Islamic theology, within its own internal dynamics and historical context. Furthermore, it concludes that these concepts are not only theological doctrines but also fundamental components of Alevi cosmology and the ideal of the perfect human (insan-ı Kâmil). Within the Alevi-Bektashi belief system, the existence and course of the soul hold an important place in both mystical and philosophical dimensions. Within this system of thought, concepts manifest themselves sometimes explicitly and sometimes implicitly. The cyclical journey of the soul is the subject of poetry with metaphors of manifestation, devriye, and transformation.
In this research, various dimensions of the concepts of incarnation, Reincarnation, and Metamorphosis are discussed with a hermeneutic method from a mystical and philosophical perspective within the internal dynamics of the Alevi-Bektashi tradition. By using document analysis and the semiotic method (signifier, signified, and interpretation), the meaning relationships and association values underlying traditional practices have been tried to be analyzed.

PİR SULTAN ABDAL’IN ŞİİRLERİNDE RUH GÖÇÜ
