Important factor in the continuation of the existence of a society, and the future of education is an important tool to transfer the values to future generations. Value education in schools, especially with Turkish lessons, Turkish, is divided into an important place in the curriculum for value education. Students in the program to acquire, in particular, universal, moral / spiritual and national values are put forward. In this context study, taught in the province of Muğla, 6, 7 and 8 Grade Turkish course books, contain in terms of the values story, text, examined. Bir toplumun varlığını ve gelecekte devamını sağlayan önemli unsurlardan olan değerlerin gelecek kuşaklara aktarımında eğitim önemli bir araçtır. Değer eğitiminin okullarda özellikle Türkçe dersi içerisinde yer aldığı, Türkçe öğretim programında değer eğitimine önemli bir yer ayrıldığı görülmektedir. Programda öğrencilere kazandırılmak üzere özellikle, evrensel, ahlakî/manevî ve millî değerler öne çıkartılmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada, Muğla ili genelinde okutulan 6, 7 ve 8. Sınıf Türkçe ders kitaplarındaki hikâye metinleri, içerdikleri değerler açısından ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada toplam 22 hikâye metni incelenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda metinlerin ağırlıklı olarak ahlakî/manevî değerlere, ikinci olarak da evrensel değerlere yer verdiği, eserlerin bu değerler bakımından zengin olduğu görülmüştür. Ancak, programda belirtilen “millî değerlerin” hikâye metinlerinde yer almadığı tespit edilmiştir.
