The primary aim of this study is to identify teacher candidates’ value preferences and whether these preferences differ according to several variables. The screening model was used in our study utilized screening model. The population of the study 7819 teacher candidates studying at the Buca Faculty of Education, Dokuz Eylül University in 2011. Participants are 910 teacher candidates chosen from the population through stratified sampling. Values Inventory (Güngör, 1998) was used to determine values preferences. Students’ opinions on values preferences were described as is. The results showed that most students put “relief of conscience” in the first place of their ranking. However, awareness of reality and a comfortable life are the last preferences. Students’ preferences revealed a meaningful difference according to major. For the gender variable, there was a meaningful difference in the values of “modesty and harmony, struggling for the life after this, awareness of realities, relief of conscience, and fight for freedom”.
Bu araştırmanın temel amacı öğretmen adaylarının değer tercihlerini belirlemek ve öğretmen adaylarının değer tercihlerinin bazı değişkenlere göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını saptamaktır. Araştırma, tarama modeli şeklindedir. Araştırmanın evreni, 2011 eğitim öğretim yılında DEU. Buca Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 7819 öğretmen adayıdır. Bu evren arasından tabakalı örneklem yöntemiyle seçilen 910 öğretmen adayı, araştırmanın çalışma grubunu oluşturmuştur. Öğrencilerin değer tercihlerini belirlemede Değerler Ölçeği (Güngör, 1998) kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin değerlerle ilgili görüşleri hiçbir değişikliğe uğratılmadan olduğu gibi betimlenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre değerlerin 1. sırada seçilmesine dayalı olarak öğrenciler en fazla 1. Sırada “vicdan huzuru” değerini tercih etmişlerdir. Gerçeklerin bilinmesi ve konforlu bir hayat değerleri ise son tercihlerde yer almıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının bölümlerine göre değer tercihleri “her şeyin ölçülü ve ahenkli olması, öbür dünyayı kazanmak, yalansız bir dünya, konforlu hayat, vicdan huzuru, eşitliğin sağlanması, insanlara yardım değerlerinde anlamlı bir farklılık göstermiştir.
