Integration of Nursing and Technology: A Bibliometric Analysis of Global Trends

Abstract

The bibliometric characteristics of research in the field of nursing and technology were analyzed via the Biblioshiny interface in the R programming language. General trends and developments in the domain were identified through publications in the Web of Science (WoS) database, and findings were visualized and interpreted by bibliometric methods. The study examined the historical path of the field, author contributions, document volume, and the most frequently used keywords. Between 1980 and 2025, a total of 29,110 studies meeting the criteria were produced by 100,122 authors. A distinct geopolitical divergence was observed: while Asian institutions dominated publication volume, the United States retained leadership in citation impact. Wang Y. was the most prolific author. Central keywords defining the field were "nursing," "care," "health," and "technology." Robotic process automation and VR-based patient training, in advanced applications, demonstrate the capacity for personalization of evidence-based practices, rather than mechanizing technology.
