Doğal gaz, Avrupa Birliği AB genelinde en fazla tüketilen enerji kaynakları arasından petrolden sonra ikinci sırada yer almaktadır. Yeterli rezervlere sahip olmayan AB, doğal gaz tüketimini çeşitli ülkelerden karşılamaktadır. Tedarikçi ülkeler arasında yer alan Rusya, AB ülkelerinin doğal gaz talebinin önemli bir kısmını tek başına karşılamaktadır. Özellikle Baltık, Doğu ve Güney Doğu Avrupa ülkeleri açısından Rusya en büyük tedarikçi ülkedir. Bu ülkeler doğal gaz ithalatının neredeyse tamamına yakınını Rusya’dan karşılamaktadır. Bu ithalat bağımlılığı ise AB enerji arz güvenliği açısından belirsizliklerin artmasına sebep olmaktadır. Bu nedenle AB, Rusya’ya olan doğal gaz bağımlılığını azaltmak ve tedarikçi ülke çeşitliliğinin arttırmak için Hazar Bölgesi doğal gaz kaynaklarına yönelmiştir. Trans Anadolu Doğal Gaz Boru Hattı TANAP , Hazar Bölgesi enerji kaynaklarının AB ülkelerine ulaştırılması için geliştirilen projelerden biridir. TANAP ile Azerbaycan doğal gazı Türkiye üzerinden AB ülkelerine ulaştırılacaktır. Bu çalışmada genel olarak TANAP’ın AB enerji arz güvenliği açısından ortaya çıkaracağı etkiye değinilmektedir. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde AB ülkelerinin doğal gaz tüketimi ve ithalatı incelenecektir. İkinci bölümde TANAP ilgili bilgilere yer verilecek ve son bölümde tedarikçi ülke olarak Azerbaycan’ın doğal gaz potansiyeli incelenecektir
After oil, natural gas is in the second place among the most consumed energy sources in the European Union EU . The EU, which does not have sufficient reserves, meets its natural gas consumption from various countries. Russia, which is among the supplier countries, meets a significant part of the natural gas demand of the EU countries. Especially, Russia is the biggest supplier country for Baltic, East and South Europe countries. These countries meet nearly all of their natural gas import from Russia. This import dependence causes the increase of uncertainty in terms of the security of the EU’s energy supply. That’s why, the EU has turned to the Caspian Region's natural gas sources to reduce natural gas dependency on Russia and to increase the diversity of supplier countries. Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline TANAP is one of the projects developed to transport Caspian Region’s energy sources to the EU countries. Azerbaijan's natural gas will be transported to the EU countries via Turkey with TANAP. In this study, it generally refers to impact of TANAP in terms of the EU’s energy supply security. In the first chapter of the study, the EU countries's natural gas consumption and imports will be examined. In the second chapter, the information about TANAP will be included and the natural gas potential of Azerbaijan as the supplier country will be examined in the last section
