The concept of development represents economic development in a narrow sense. According to the HumanDevelopment Report, published by the United Nations since 1990, development is considered as animprovement in the level of life of the individual, including the human factor. and the Human DevelopmentIndex (HDI) for each country are presented in the reports, the calculations made by considering the generalconditions of the countries. The Human Development Index is based on three basic dimensions: a long andhealthy lifestyle measured by average life expectancy, the average age of schooling and the ability to accessthe wisdom calculated over the course of the study and the ability to have a decent standard of livingmeasured by gross national income per capita. The purpose of the paper is to determine the effects of humandevelopment on developments in financial markets. For the purpose, time series analysis was performed withannual data, Borsa Istanbul 100 Index (BIST) that was representative of developments in financial marketsand Human Development Index (IGE) that was representative of Human Development in 1986-2015 period.It was performed Johansen-Juselius Co-Entegration Test, to detect the existence of the long term relationshipbetween the variables, and Granger Causality Test, for determination causality. As a result of the analysis, itwas determinated Co-Entegration of variables and unidirectional causality from IGE to BIST.
Gelişme kavramı dar kapsamda ekonomik anlamda gelişmeyi temsil etse de, 1990 yılından itibaren BirleşmişMilletler tarafından hesaplanarak yayınlanan, İnsani Gelişmişlik Raporuna göre gelişme, insan faktörünü deiçine alarak bireylerin yaşam düzeylerinde gerçekleştirilen iyileşme olarak ele alınmaktadır. Ülkelerin genelşartları ele alınarak yapılan hesaplamalar ile her ülke için İnsani Gelişme Endeksi (İGE) ilgili raporlardasunulmaktadır. İnsani Gelişme Endeksi, ortalama yaşam beklentisiyle ölçülen uzun ve sağlıklı bir yaşam sürme,ortalama okula gitme süresi ve beklenen okula devam süresiyle hesaplanan bilgiye erişim becerisi ve kişibaşına düşen gayrisafi millî hasılayla ölçülen insana yakışır bir yaşam standardına sahip olma becerisi olmaküzere üç temel boyutu esas almaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı finansal piyasalardaki gelişmelerin insanigelişmişlik üzerine etkisini belirlemektedir. Bu amaçla, finansal piyasalardaki gelişmeleri temsilen Borsaİstanbul 100 Endeksi (BİST) büyüme oranının ve insani gelişmişlik düzeyini temsilen ise İnsani GelişmeEndekinin (İGE), 1986-2015 dönemini kapsayan yıllık verileriyle zaman serisi analizleri yapılmıştır. Değişkenlerarasındaki uzun dönemli ilişkinin varlığını tespit etmek için Johansen- Juselius Eşbütünleşme testi,nedenselliğin belirlenmesi için ise Granger Nedensellik testi yapılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda değişkenlerin uzundönemde birlikte hareket ettikleri ve İGE endeksinin BIST endeksinin bir nedeni olduğu belirlenmiştir.
